Taiz:
The local authority in Taiz continues its efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance community services by implementing an integrated project to light the streets of Al-Qahirah and Al-Mudhaffar districts in #Taiz Governorate using solar energy as a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution.
The project includes the installation of 425 solar-powered lighting units, in addition to 27 new lighting poles, with comprehensive maintenance of the existing poles and the installation of concrete bases to support them.
This project is supported by the Strengthening Institutional and Economic Resilience in #Yemen (#SIERY) project, funded by the #European_Union and implemented by the #United_Nations_Development_Program (#UNDP) in cooperation with #Generations_Without_Qat Organization.
The project aims to:
Improve the urban environment: provide sustainable lighting that contributes to improving the quality of life in the targeted neighborhoods.
Enhance security and safety: facilitate the movement of pedestrians and vehicles at night, and reduce the risks associated with poor street lighting.
Revitalize residential neighborhoods: improve the level of safety and encourage social and economic activity in the targeted areas.
This project is part of the development priorities set by the local authority for 2023, as it directly contributes to meeting the needs of the population and enhancing security and environmental sustainability. The local authority, in cooperation with its partners, continues to work on implementing development projects that contribute to building a better future and achieving the aspirations of the population to obtain effective and sustainable basic services.
