Taiz:
A delegation from the #European_Union and the #United_Nations_Development_Programme ( #UNDP_Yemen ) visited the office of #Taiz Governorate, where they met with local authorities to discuss the progress of the "#SIERY" project on the ground and to review the extent to which local authorities have regained their role in achieving stability by preparing needs plans in cooperation with the community, where the projects implemented at the headquarters of the #Generations_Without_Qat organization in Taiz were reviewed.
During the visit, the delegation from the European Union and the Development Program met with the beneficiaries of the project, whether representatives of local authorities or members of the #community, to learn about the outputs and results achieved through the support provided, in addition to reviewing the challenges faced by implementation, and putting forward recommendations to ensure the sustainability of the achieved successes.
The local authorities' plan to maintain the continuity of the methodology that the project helped establish was also discussed, which contributed to reactivating the role of local authorities after the decline they witnessed during the years of conflict.
The meeting discussed the governorate's plans to expand the scope of this methodology at the level of other directorates, ensuring the achievement of more comprehensive local development.
As part of the visit, the progress of preparing the governorate's #developmental, #economic, and #social plan was discussed, which aims to enhance stability and achieve #sustainable_development.
The delegation also visited the Planning Office, where strategic planning mechanisms and the challenges facing the development process under the current circumstances were reviewed.
The visit concluded with a field tour that included the projects that were implemented with the support of the project, where the delegation met with a number of citizens who expressed their impressions about these projects and how they contributed to improving their daily lives, whether by improving basic services or enhancing the role of local authorities in meeting the needs of society
