Taiz Governorate hosted the closing workshop for the " Strengthening Institutional and Economic Resilience in Yemen" (SIERY) project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Generations Without Qat (GWQ), with funding from the European Union, and in close coordination with local authorities.
The workshop was attended by representatives of local authorities, executive offices, civil society, and international and local organizations. During the event, participants reviewed the achievements of the past two years, which have contributed to improving infrastructure and promoting sustainable development in the districts of Salah, Al-Qahirah, and Al-Mudhaffar. The key accomplishments included:
✅ Rehabilitation of water and sanitation networks.
✅ Renovation of main and secondary roads.
✅ Improvement of educational and healthcare facilities.
✅ Installation of solar-powered street lighting.

Attendees emphasized the pivotal role of the project in shifting from short-term relief to sustainable development, by enhancing self-reliance and restoring the role of local authorities in delivering essential services to communities.
