GWQ for Awareness and Development concluded the project of "Improving WASH services for schools and hygiene practices for vulnerable HHs affected by the Coronavirus (Covid 19)" in Al-Ma'afer district in Taiz Governorate, funded by the Canadian Development and Peace Organization (D&P), which lasted from July 2020 to December 2020.
The director of the district, the director of the education office in the district, donor organization representative and GWQ organization representative have participated in the closing ceremony of the project in "Al-Nour" school in Al-Ma'afer district, where CHVs, field workers, members of the community committees and the donor organization were honored.
The project manager, Badi 'Ahmed Abdul-Aziz, said: All activities related to the project of improving the health and environmental standards for vulnerable HHs in Al-Ma'afer district inTaiz governorate, have been successfully completed including the following:
Raising awareness of (500) HHs about ways of preventing diseases and epidemics spreading, including the COVID-19, through home visits awareness, and holding group awareness sessions, in addition to cleaning campaigns that lasted for a month, carried out by (20) male and female volunteers.
Distributing (500) hygiene kits bags to 500 of the most vulnerable HHs in the district.
Building 18 latrines and rehabilitating 7 latrines for 5 schools, benefiting more than 3,400 male and female students.
He also explained that the activity of building the latrines was implemented through CFW mechanism where about 30 workers from the district took advantage of cash transfers for 4 months."
