Thursday, October 14, 2021, a special training course for capacity building of 15 civil society organizations and women’s groups in “evidence-based advocacy” was concluded in the districts of Al-Qaherah and Mudhaffar, which was implemented by Generations Without Qat for Awareness and Development within the project “Strengthening Community Participation and Building the Capacity of Community Organizations” Civil society, women’s groups, women’s and youth initiatives, and activating their roles in society” (the second year of the project), which is implemented by the Generations Without Qat Organization in the districts of Al-Qaherah and Al-Mudhaffar in the city of Taiz.
The training course, which lasted for four days, aimed to provide the participants with knowledge and skills about the characteristics of advocacy and the interests related to advocacy, as well as the desired results of advocacy, in addition to the needs approach and the human rights approach to advocacy. The participants also received the advocacy analysis strategy and criteria for selecting an advocacy case.
The participants were also acquainted, through activities and working groups, with the stakeholders and advocacy strategies, the strategy of alliances and networks, the use of media, in addition to preparing an advocacy plan.
In the last training sessions, the focus was on the mechanism of preparing advocacy plans, and on empowering civil society organizations and women's groups with tools that help plan advocacy campaigns during the coming period that serve women's issues, participation, and social peace.
