Thursday, October 21, 2021, three training courses for (15) youth and women’s initiatives in “community peacebuilding, gender, leadership, and communication” were concluded in the city of Taiz Civil society, women’s groups, women’s and youth initiatives, and activating their roles in society” (the second year of the project) implemented by the Generations Without Qat Organization in the districts of Al-Qaherah and Mudhaffar in the city of Taiz.

 

In a statement to the project coordinator, he confirmed that "the initiatives participating in the three training courses received a lot of knowledge and skills, as the participants in the training course on youth and women's initiatives on gender received knowledge and skills about the concept of gender, its categories and gender roles, in addition to gender-based violence." Gender and its effects, gender analysis in terms of concept and importance, gender analysis tools as well as inclusion and the role of women and youth participation in decision-making, and how to enhance the role of women in participating in decision-making and building community peace.

 

He said, "As for the training course on leadership and communication, the participants representing 15 youth and women's initiatives in the districts of Cairo and Muzaffar in Taiz governorate received information and skills about the concept of leadership and its types, the problems of current leadership weakness and leadership styles, in addition to the life cycle of initiatives, coalition building, and peacebuilding paths, in addition to the art of Facilitating and managing meetings, effective communication and preparing reports.

 

In the training course on "Community Peacebuilding", 15 youth and women initiatives received skills and knowledge about violence and its relationship to conflict, peace, and coexistence, in addition to the concept of conflict, its types and stages of escalation, as well as tools for conflict analysis and the relationships between conflict and peace" and tools for conflict intervention, as explained by the project coordinator.

 

These training courses included working groups and dialogue sessions on the importance of women and youth participation in decision-making and building community peace.
