Generations Without Qat concludes the training course on Leadership, Negotiation and Advocacy Skills for Disaster Risk Management and Adaptation to Climate Change.

Generations Without Qat for Awareness and Development concluded the training course on Leadership, Negotiation, and Advocacy Skills in the Context of Disaster Risk Management and Adaptation to Climate Change, in which 20 male and female participants from the districts of Salah, Al-Shamaytain, Jabal Habashi, Al-Mudhaffar, and Al-Qaherah in Taiz Governorate participated.

During the training course that comes within the project Enhancing Women’s Participation in Relief, Recovery and Peace Operations in Yemen, which is implemented by Generations Without Qat in the Salah and Al-Shamaytain districts of Taiz within the second phase of the project from January to December 2023, participants received basic skills in leadership, negotiation and advocacy, to face the challenges resulting from climate change and natural disasters.

The training course also included various topics related to the negative impact of climate change and disasters on the environment and society, especially women, and how to deal with them in effective and innovative ways, in addition to concepts and methods of leadership, negotiation and advocacy and how to apply them in a local and national context.

Project Coordinator Hamid Khaled said in a press statement, “During the training course, all participants identified and analyzed some of the environmental and climate problems facing their directorates, and proposed realistic and sustainable strategies and solutions to them, taking into account the political, legal, social and economic factors affecting these issues.”

He added that accordingly, a draft advocacy strategy for future work was developed, aiming to enhance the active participation of civil society, cooperation and coordination among various stakeholders, and the formation of a local network for advocacy and influencing policies and decisions related to climate
change in Taiz Governorate."
