Taiz Governorate, led by Governor Nabil Shamsan, launched a group of development projects that reflect a real response to the local community's needs.
These projects are part of the project to enhance institutional and economic resilience in Yemen (#SIERY23), implemented by the #United_Nations_Development_Programme (#UNDP_Yemen) through the Generations Without Qat organization.
And funded by the #European_Union_Mission_in_Yemen.
Al-Qaherah Directorate Sewerage Network Maintenance and Replacement Project
As part of the efforts made to improve the health and service environment, a sewerage network maintenance and replacement project was implemented in Al-Qaherah Directorate, and the works targeted the areas extending from Jamal Street Aqaba to Al-Ikhwa and Al-Hindi neighborhood. The project included:
• Replacing old pipes with new ones for a distance of 1150 meters in length.
• Restoring and adding 100 manholes and inspection chambers along the network.
The project aims to:
• Address recurring blockages in the sewerage network.
• Reduce sewage overflow and improve the health environment in the targeted areas.
• Enhance the efficiency of the network to meet the growing needs of the population.
This project will directly contribute to improving the living conditions of the area's residents, especially in light of the environmental challenges facing the city.
Within the framework of enhancing health services, a project was implemented to supply modern medical examination devices and install integrated solar energy systems in:
• Al-Wafa Health Center.
• Al-Thawra Health Center.
The project aims to:
• Enhance the ability of health centers to provide medical services.
• Provide a suitable medical environment for the population in light of the continuous power outages.
The local authority played a pivotal role in studying community needs and including these projects in its annual plans. It also followed up on the implementation stages in coordination with the implementing agencies to ensure the highest quality standards are achieved.
These projects aim to make a qualitative shift in the lives of residents by improving the quality of their daily lives through developing basic services that address their direct needs, whether in the health or infrastructure sectors. They also seek to provide a sustainable environment that contributes to the long-term stability of society, laying a solid foundation for comprehensive development that meets citizens' aspirations and enhances their ability to face challenges.
