Lahj, Yemen – The local authority today inaugurated the Ibn Khaldun School building in the Directorate of Al-Mudaraba and Ras Al-Ara in Lahj Governorate. The building includes seven fully equipped modern classrooms, an administration room, and sanitary facilities.
The project is supported by the Strengthening Institutional and Economic Resilience in Yemen (SIERY) project funded by the European Union and implemented through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP Yemen) and the Generations Without Qat Organization (GWQ).
The project aims to develop the educational infrastructure in the Al-Mudaraba and Ras Al-Ara Directorate by establishing integrated classrooms equipped with all the basic facilities, ensuring a safe and attractive educational environment for students. The project serves more than 656 students and contributes to improving the quality of education and meeting the needs of the local community. It also supports the enhancement of the educational institutions' capacity to face developmental challenges, ensuring the sustainability of the educational process in the long run.
In his statement, the Secretary-General of the Local Council in the Directorate, Mr. Ali Ahmed, said, "We in the local council are striving hard to develop the educational infrastructure in the Directorate and meet the needs of the local community. This project is part of our developmental plans aimed at improving education and providing a safe and attractive environment for students. We are proud of the partnership with the funding and implementing entities, and we affirm our commitment to continuing to support projects that serve the people of the Directorate and improve their educational level."
