Thursday, January 27, 2022, the Generations Without Qat Organization for Development and Awareness held a debate in the city of Taiz entitled Joint efforts between the local authority and young men and women contribute to improving the level of services.
The debate was held in the presence of the local authority in the districts of Al-Qaherah and Mudhaffar; Which contributed to enriching the debate through valuable supportive or opposition interventions, all of which stressed the importance of working to have a constructive and effective partnership between youth and the local authority.
That comes within the project Strengthening community participation, building the capacities of civil society organizations, youth and women's initiatives, and activating their roles in society", which is implemented by the Generations Without Qat Organization for Awareness and Development in the districts of Al-Qaherah and Mudhaffar in Taiz Governorate during the period December 2020 - February 2022.
During the debate, the two debate teams (pro-opposition) presented their thesis and defended it using their arguments and evidence.
After the debate's thesis was presented by both debate teams, the debate jury clarified that "such a debate also aims to build youth capacities and raise awareness among the general public on some important issues and enhance persuasion skills on the values of peace and the importance of women and youth participation in decision-making and building community peace." And strengthening serious work and partnership with local authorities, as well as raising community awareness and persuading it with arguments and proofs. The most important thing in this event is its essence or content, which touched on an important issue not in Taiz governorate but at the level of the Republic of Yemen, and that this debate achieved its goal with high effectiveness.

On the other hand, the project coordinator gave a presentation about the Generations Without Qat Organization, reviewing the stages of its establishment, its areas of intervention in the various sectors, and its locations. He also gave an overview of the project. He said that "through it, the capacities of 91 civil society organizations, women's groups, and youth and women's initiatives were built. In addition to receiving small grants to implement activities and projects focused on meeting the needs of society, supporting the participation of youth and women in decision-making processes, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution related to the local community context, in addition to to the activities of art and sports in the districts of Al-Qaherah and Muzaffar.
He pointed out that "this debate is one of the outcomes of the debate skills training activity, which aims to enhance the youth's abilities to develop and organize thinking skills, develop analytical and research skills, and enhance their persuasion abilities."
